Have you Seen our New Labels’ Designs yet?
Updated: 04 June 2026
Over the past few months we have worked on two new label designs for three different packaging styles to run on our BTB25. The first design is a Lareka-themed label for a full-envelope and a band-wrap packaging style whereas the second one is specifically designed for a cardboard band-wrap.
Our experience with designing the labels
The process of designing our own labels was great! From picking the right colours to choosing the printing techniques and comparing the different wrapping materials, we have done it all and we are now here to share some useful tips and tricks to make this process easy for you.
Let’s begin!
Tip #1 - Start researching!
First thing we did (as we are not expert labels’ designers) is look up many different kinds of labels and get some inspiration from it. In the chocolate world, first impressions count, as the competition is very high and your product has a millisecond to catch the eye of the consumers from the shelf. As Lareka does not directly produce and sell chocolate bars, this applies to us slightly differently. Instead of catching the eye of the consumers from the shelf, our goal was to spark some curiosity on social media and at exhibitions.
Tip #2 - Define your goal
After doing some research, we started defining our goals. What did we want to show on our label and why? At this point, making some personas and imagining our ideal customers was very helpful! Our main goals were: making use of different foil and material techniques and transmitting Lareka's core mission through the labels.
Tip #3 - Make use of storytelling
This is probably the most important one out of them all. Making use of storytelling can really help your product stand out from the others. The wrapping is not just a piece of paper, it is a way to tell your story and your mission to your consumers. Through colours, design elements and text, you can describe the nature and the taste of your product. This can help you reach out to consumers who share the same values and taste as you.
Tip #4 - Pick the right materials
Designing a label is not only about the elements and the text which will be printed on it but also about choosing the right packaging materials for your products. In recent years we have seen the increase of sustainable packaging materials such as cacao shell paper, sheets made from recycled materials such as second-hand clothing and many more. When you are designing your label, it is good to be aware of all these possibilities and consider what would work best for your product. In our instance, we chose to use paper for our Lareka-themed labels and cardboard for the other label to highlight the flexibility of using different materials when wrapping bars with a Lareka machine.
Tip #5 - Make use of different printing techniques
Using different printing techniques can help your label stand out from the rest. As one of our goals was to make use of different foil and material techniques, on the Lareka-themed labels we opted to foil print the text in gold whereas on the cardboard label we chose to varnish the image of the cacao beans and enhance its visual appeal. As our machine works with already cut and printed labels, there are so many options of printing techniques that can be used. From embossing and debossing to foil printing, our machine can handle it all which allows you to be creative and better tell your story through your label.

Tip #6 - Start on time!
Designing a label and making sure that everything ends up looking like you want to take quite some time. Often things need to be redesigned or elements need to be moved around so we recommend you start early with your design and have enough time to make changes before your deadline.
Bonus tip - ask Lareka!
We understand it can be difficult to choose the right material or the printing technique that fits your style best as there are so many options available. That is why we are always happy to share our knowledge about packaging materials, sustainable options and trends and techniques for labels’ design. with our customers
Overall, we are very happy with the results we achieved! What do you think about it?
